BackTrack 3 install (installation)

Since I have had a strong traffic from Google for a few days with a search for backtrack and its ways to install it, I decided that it is difficult for people to install it 🙂 because after the beta version they removed the installer . The installation itself is more than a simple procedure. So let's get to work, for a start I prefer to install it through the flash drive, that I'm tired of writing on disks and so on 🙂 Not that the installation procedure changes just to clarify I say 😉 I'll look 2 how to install one with a graphical installer and the other with commands – a little harder version 😉 In general, you should have prepared a partition or if you haven't done it, prepare it, this step I won't consider it more than meaningless 😉

1. Installation with GUI

You take it off installer 🙂 Then you choose real for the installation and let the original MBR not be repaired and you are ready. However, if the installer has not overwritten the lilo, you will have to get your hands a little dirty with a console. You open it with some editor. /etc / lilo.conf rub everything out of it and put

boot = /dev/sda
 prompt
 timeout=60
 change-rules
 reset
 vga=791
 image = /boot/vmlinuz
 root = /dev/sda3
 label = backtrack3_final

and overwrite it with lilo -v 🙂

2. Console install

again we accept the variant that everything we prepared in advance 🙂 in this case sda3 is our partition for /

mkdir /mnt/backtrack
 mount /dev/sda3 /mnt/backtrack/
 mkdir /mnt/backtrack/boot/
 mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/backtrack/boot/ #ако boot партишъна ви е на същия дял като / нямя нужда от тая стъпка
 cp --preserve -R /{bin,dev,home,pentest,root,usr,etc,lib,opt,sbin,var} /mnt/backtrack/
 mkdir /mnt/backtrack/{mnt,proc,sys,tmp}
 mount --bind /dev/ /mnt/backtrack/dev/
 mount -t proc proc /mnt/backtrack/proc/
 cp /boot/vmlinuz /mnt/backtrack/boot/
 chroot /mnt/backtrack/ /bin/bash
 nano /etc/lilo.conf

From here you continue to overwrite the lilo by deleting everything from the file In general and not so general lines this is 🙂
